On the afternoon of September 28, President NING Bin met with the delegation from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, led by Vice Chancellor Mr. Rwekaza Sympho Mukandala as well as Mr. Saidi Massoro, Minister Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of Tanzania in China.   

NING Bin extended warm welcome to the delegation and briefly introduced the talent cultivation, railway training, internationalization effort and “Double First-Class” Initiative of the university. He said BJTU boasts obvious advantages in high-speed railway, urban rail transit, comprehensive transport and smart transport. In recent years, BJTU has been actively serving the national “Belt and Road” Initiative and “Going Global” initiative of high-speed railway. BJTU has undertaken many training programs for railway construction personnel from Africa including Tanzania. Tanzania is historically an old friend of China in Africa. In the 1970s, BJTU has cultivated more than 200 Tanzanian students for the construction of Tanzania-Zambia Railway and sent groups of teachers to carry out talents training programs for the construction of   Tanzania-Zambia Railway. Both sides share solid foundations for the future cooperation. He hoped that both sides would strengthen cooperation on talent cultivation, faculty mutual visits and joint research in the field of railway so as to jointly participate in the railway construction in Tanzania and across Africa.

Rwekaza Sympho Mukandala expressed gratitude to BJTU for the hospitality and introduced the basic information of the University of Dar es Salaam. He spoke highly of the achievements and contributions BJTU has made since the founding the university on talent cultivation, science research and operation and management of Tanzania-Zambia Railway. He hoped that both sides would enhance exchanges and collaborations, take advantages of each strength disciplines to make contributions to the railway construction in Tanzania and its neighboring countries.

Before the meeting, Vice Chancellor Mr. Rwekaza Sympho Mukandala also visited the university museum and conducted face-to-face exchanges with Tanzanian students at BJTU.

Vice President SUN Shouguang and Principals from the Office of International Affairs, Center for International Education, School of Traffic and Transportation and National Education and Service Center of Rail Transportation Technology were also present at the meeting.
